On wandering around Marks and Spencers earlier in search for some kind of checkout that wasn’t a complicated self service machine or half-dead old lady, I came across another fabulous offer that our supermarkets keep sending our way

I was agasp. I remember being 10 and going round to my nans for a tea and an egg custard. And on that wondeful feeling of nostalgia I picked them up. Considering I had exactly £1 in my pocket I thought it was meant to be anyway and made my way to the checkout I had yet to find. I’d forgotten the other thing I was intending to buy
I walked outside, sat on a bench and opened one of the tarts. Amazing. Then I started to panic because I realised only egg-based food products were giving me any culinary joy at the moment. Quiches and egg custards
